Sterilization Controversy Shrinks Alabama Family Planning Access
Alabama officials say reaction to the sterilization of two young black girls, Mary Alice and Minnie Relf, is curbing operations for the poor. The suit by Lonnie Relf spurred a state and HEW ban on sterilizations for minors and the mentally incompetent, threatening funds and access for 20 percent of low income women.

Bridge lessons from Oswald and Jim on declarer strategy
The column cites Oswald and Jim discussing play concepts in bridge. They note that laying down an ace with a singleton king invites commentary, and outline a sequence where West's queen of clubs starts a trick, South ruffs, and South uses a heart and diamond sequence to reach dummy.
