Police Figure Robber Can't Be Far Away
MEAU Alaska AP A bank robbery at the National Bank of Alaska in Juneau worried residents. Police Chief James Barkley calls the robber smart or dumb and notes Juneau’s isolation by sea and air. The 2 p.m. Thursday heist involved a middle aged man with a revolver who handed a note to a teller, grabbed cash, and fled on foot. Bank officials closed the bank and offered no statements. The only prior Juneau bank robbery was in 1932 when a robber demanded money, shot is fired, and escaped with $3,000.
