Demolition debated for Ingram House at Wichita Mountains Refuge
Officials weigh whether to remove the two story native stone Ingram House south of the Jed Johnson dam at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. A newly formed Refuge Citizens Advisory Committee discussed pros and cons, with a media call promised for next week. Some members favored rehabilitating the building for reunions and church use, while others labeled it a nuisance. The panel also eyed tearing down the nearby Ferguson House on the scenic highway. Built circa 1930 by Earl Ingram, the house was later acquired by the refuge in a land trade after World War II. The late Heck Shrader, noted big game figure, is referenced in coverage.

Blizzard Closes Cities as Midwest Suffers Historic Storm
A severe blizzard batters the nation from Minnesota to Pennsylvania, causing full-city closures in the Upper Midwest, statewide emergencies in Indiana and Ohio, and National Guard rescues in Michigan. At least nine deaths are linked to weather, with high winds and up to 11 inches of snow reported, while Northeast flooding follows warm temps and rain. The storm forces bridge and road closures, power outages, and warnings to motorists to stay in vehicles. A separate tornado in Quantico, Virginia, kills a 3-year-old boy at a Marine base trailer court.
