Solon Moves to Abolish Oklahoma Junior Colleges Bill
Oklahoma City January 16 An Oklahoma Senate bill to abolish seven state supported junior colleges will be introduced when the Legislature reconvenes. Sen Keith Cartwright says the measure will face strong opposition from lawmakers in college districts. The plan targets junior colleges at Lawton Wilburton Warner Tishomingo Miami Tonkawa and Claremore costing nearly 2 million yearly. The Senate also schedules consideration of a 61 million common school bill and approved 31 million for higher education with a later House Senate conference. The move prompts debate on economy and the Legislative Council's role.

Boyle argues that abolishing two platoons to return to one team risks fewer jobs for players, hurts smaller colleges, and turns football into a slimmer sport. He disputes the claim that cutting platoons preserves the game, warning it could lower gate receipts, wages, and fan interest while favoring big programs.

Plan To Distribute Gamma Globulin Studied By NRC
A New York meeting next Tuesday will decide how to distribute gamma globulin for the 1950 summer polio season. The National Research Council is expected to propose federal allocation of one million free doses by June 30 sourced from Red Cross blood, with state health officials handling individual distributions. The plan must balance limited four to five week protection against the need to extend coverage through the season while considering adults and pregnant women, and it links to ODM and military blood needs.
