Hospital Bond Election Sought For 100-Bed Facility
Buddy Gerber of the Lowery-Whitehead American Legion Post says he will file petitions with the county commissioners to call a special bond election on May 11 to approve 850,000 for a community hospital. About 1,700 names were counted at the Legion meeting as the petition deadline approaches. The county would fund two thirds with the federal government covering one third.

The deadline for federal income tax returns is approaching and M. B. Dickson, deputy in charge of the local IRS office, urged taxpayers to file. Local deputies in the federal building will assist daily from Saturday through the March 15 deadline, with extended hours 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday March 6. An IRS agent from Oklahoma City and perhaps an extra deputy will be on duty next week to handle the expected influx of tax customers.

Durbin Denies Murder Charge in Lawton Court
Frank Durbin, a Lawton truck driver, pleads innocent to murder after arraignment at the county jail.
