Veteran Pfe Cheney to be buried Monday final rites
Final rites for Pfe. Evans H. Cheney killed in action in Normandy in June will be conducted at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday at Lawton Funeral Home by Rev. E. Campbell. Burial will be in Highland cemetery in a service by Lawton Legionnaires. Cheney, the third of Comanche county's war dead returned home, was scheduled to arrive in Lawton Monday. Burial details include Legionnaires Claude Hight Lawrence Bevericka Ralph Townsend Royal Gant Roy Bust and John Hoffman as color bearers Jack Castle as color bearer and Foy Ehler. Buddy Garber will conduct graveside rites. Cheney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl C. Cheney of Turkey, Texas, formerly attended Lawton schools and enlisted at Fort Sill in July 1940.
