Bandits Hijack Sill Man and Girl in County Case
A 24 year old Lawton man and a 20 year old companion are jailed as suspects after a county road hijacking near Gore and 38th. Cpl. Benjamin Rotherm ail of Fort Sill and his 21 year old girlfriend were robbed of a wallet, car keys, and $20 after two bandits forced their car off the road. The trio wore handkerchiefs over their faces and a third bandit remained in the car, a 1941 Ford or Chevrolet. The attack followed earlier threats against a junior high patrol boy and a feud involving a 15 year old boy later committed to Stringtown.

After a day of record Christmas mailing local postal workers felt they had passed the peak of outgoing mail and hoped for good weather to keep incoming mail moving. Postmaster Bennie Stephens said the peak is over and luck with weather northward could keep operations steady. Monday marked the year’s biggest day since 1951 for outgoing mail with about 97,500 pieces processed at the main office and 1,793 parcels at the downtown annex, slightly fewer than last year.

Mrs. C. M. Warner 49 wife of an Apache grocer was hospitalized at Memorial hospital after her 1954 Pontiac left U S 62 1.4 miles south of Apache and overturned. Patrol reports she was alone and en route to Lawton. X-rays of her neck were taken before noon with the full extent of injuries not yet known. The husband said she was resting well at 1 p m.

Fort Sill Insurers Restricted More by Army Rules
Fort Sill personnel face no new protection under a Defense Department order, as Army regulations already cover all provisions.
