190-Year-Old Fort Sill White Oak Falls in Rucker Park
A 190-year-old white oak in Fort Sill’s Rucker Park toppled due to age and internal decay. Grounds crew cut and removed the trunk while James Marler of the USA Museum secured a large section for display and testing to determine its age.

Gas Dealer's Plea Rejected By Court
Oklahoma City AP A writ of prohibition was denied to Shawnee liquefied gas dealer Ralph Lillard Jr owner of Blue Flame Gas Co requesting to stop an LPG hearing on his license. Dist Judge W R Wallace said state law leaves no option but to deny the request though he hopes a settlement may precede a full hearing. Attorney H Corky Bishop said the LPG board aims to put Lillard out of business and represents a board with his competitors.
