Wheat Market Hits Season High In Lawton Co op Trade
The Kansas City wheat market closed at a season high of 4.05 dollars on Tuesday as Rex Polone of the Lawton Co op predicts sustained strength. He cites labor and government pressure and demand from Russia and Eastern Europe as reasons the market will stay firm. Area farmers sold about 50 000 bushels at three elevators in Lawton Grandfield and Chattanooga, below last Friday’s 117 000 bushels. Polone advises selling gradually to avoid a market drop as about 1.2 million bushels have entered the co op since harvest.
