Flea allergy season ramps up as weather shifts in Kansas
Veterinarians report an unusual surge in flea related allergies in pets across Kansas due to wet cool fall weather. Dr Susan Nelson of Kansas State says fleas thrive in current conditions and allergies manifest as itching red ears and paws. Owners are urged to seek veterinary care and use proper shampoos and post outdoors paw wiping. Indoor dogs Skeeter Cricket and others show itchiness with grass related allergies, Benadryl used in some cases. After the first freeze, canine and feline allergies decline rapidly.
