Rural fire departments seek county backed Rapid Intervention Team
Douglas County nine rural fire departments may gain a countywide Rapid Intervention Team to back up volunteers in emergencies. The unit would be stationed at Wakarusa Station 1 with a vehicle and equipment, costing up to 57,894 dollars initially and about 15,700 dollars annually. Commissioners meet today at 4 p.m. to discuss implementation and related agenda items.

Douglas County man killed in Stull Road crash
The Douglas County Sheriffs Office released the name of the man killed in a Friday single vehicle crash on Stull Road. Dallas Burton 65 of Overbrook was driving westbound when his pickup drifted across the east lane struck a driveway culvert rolled down an embankment and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
