Workmen Finish KU FM Radio Tower for KANU

KILLED IN KOREA Pic. William L. Widner Dies in Action
Pfc. William L. Widner aged 23 died September 1 in an army hospital in Korea from injuries received in action. He was the 12th Douglas county casualty in the Korean War, wounded September 5 while with the Second Division infantry. He lived in Lawrence, born July 2, 1928, and a 1948 Liberty Memorial High School graduate. Survivors include his mother Mrs. Lillian Widner of 620 Rhode Island Street, two sisters, a grandmother, and an extended family. He had trained at Fort Riley and Fort Belvoir before deployment from Lawton, Washington. His father, Paul Widner, preceded him in death. His family has resided with Mrs. Dewey Raines since his death. Mrs. Widner works at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
