Delisa Drewes once nearly won Ford County Spelling Bee in Dodge City and now for Kansas University aims for redemption in Lawrence on Sept 30. The Lawrence Senior Center at 745 Vt. will close next week to repair fire-caused electrical problems. Camp Jayhawk at KU brings youth with student athletes
The Kansas University Athletic Corp and Mercantile Banks co sponsor Camp Jayhawk to be held at Anschutz Sports Pavilion at KU. Boys and girls ages 6 to 12 from local youth organizations may participate starting at 10 a.m. on September 25. Jayhawk athletes will meet attendees as coordinators select participants.

Planners adopt six month schedule for south zoning
The Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission approves an ambitious 180 day timetable to craft a southern development plan.
