Small planes put on aerobatic show at Lawrence airport
Four pilots staged regional aerobatic competition at Lawrence Municipal Airport last weekend. They stayed to train before next week's U S National aerobatic event in Sherman Texas. Competitors include John Morrissey of Lee's Summit Missouri and his son Matt Morrissey, Amelia Island Florida, plus Boris Lee Aerobatic.

Lawrence National Bank the citys oldest financial institution will shut its doors Friday as stockholders approve the merger into First Elmore National Bank. MidAmerican Corp acquired 95 percent of LNBs stock, transferring 6000 customer accounts and loan portfolio to First National effective Saturday. First Nationals assets rise by 55 million to about 215 million. Terr y Sutcliffe LNB president calls it onward and upward as 35 LNB employees join First National.

Dropout rates decline for blacks whites Hispanics steady
U S education department reports nationwide dropouts ages 15 to 24 in grades 10 to 12 fell from 6.1 percent in 1980 to 4 percent in 1991, with 12.5 percent of 16 to 24 year olds not enrolled and not finishing high school.
