A bronze statue honoring the renowned General Grant is described as a grand monument with ceremonial Cavelling to mark its dedication. Local officials urge public support and preservation of the historic tribute at the city square.
An immense crowd witnessed the unveiling of a Grant monument in Leavenworth Kansas. The ceremony featured Senators Ingalls and Peck and Gov Humphrey with Gen Blair and Brig. Gen Merritt presiding, the statue by Lorado Taft standing nine feet high atop a seventeen foot pedestal of Barre granite.
Kansas City dispatch notes National Grand Army headquarters books papers and office furniture shipped to Detroit for new HQ. Ex Adjutant General Weiged, who has resided here, departs tonight for St. Louis. In another item, the Swedish Americans parade marks 250th anniversary of Swedish landing in America in Kansas City.

An Iowa Dickinson county Democratic convention met this afternoon and nominated a full ticket led by I. S. Gollam for treasurer and P. H. Sheran for sheriff. W. T. Patam was named clerk, W. P. Gulteck coroner, J. J. Egan surveyor, A. M. Gorman commissioner, with W. F. Harris and John Irwin as high school trustees. The Cronin Trial in Cariaco enters its second week of juror selection as 32 peremptory challenges have been used and 50 potential jurors remain.
Mia J. M. Ragedale wife of the Guthrie bank president and Newton society figure died at home last night from internal hemorrhage. Her passing removes a leading local figure and long time Newton resident.
