Lawrence Arts Center expansion faces review by HRC
Lawrence city commissioners will receive architectural plans for a 5.8 million expansion of the Lawrence Arts Center at 200 W Ninth. The project adds classrooms dance studios a preschool area and a kiln with a 275 seat hall north of the center. Plans must go before the Historic Resources Commission Sept 24 and then the state preservation officer before funding moves forward. Center officials report more than 95 000 annual visitors and have committed at least 2 million plus 1.5 million already secured. land acquisition is projected at 700 000.
