Dr Conrad Taeuber says the plains farm population stayed almost stationary with one fifth of U S farm people living there in 1935. Despite a population rise 1910 to 1935 it was under the growth of births, and many settlers moved out while outsiders moved in as cheap plains land drew the unemployed.
