Barn at Lawrence to be razed amid legends and age
The buttressed Brown barn built in 1870 near Fraser Hall will be torn down this fall or winter by the University of Kansas which owns the structure. It is condemned as unsafe after storm damage and costly restoration was deemed prohibitive. The site carries local lore but residents say it mainly served as a dairy and storage space.

A church reports two major improvements this year totaling 15000. The second project redecorated the second and third floor classrooms with new equipment and color schemes while volunteer labor saved at least 2000. About 30 people contributed labor under building committee chair John J. and other personal directors. Departs met in the dining room for religious films during redecorating. The first project redecorated the entire basement with asphalt floor covering. Meanwhile, 843 Louisiana Street repairs and redecorations were completed.
