Knox Optimistic On Lawrence High School Addition

Lawrence Sept of Schools leader Carl S. Knox said the 204067 addition to Lawrence High School should be completed by September 15. General contractor B A Green and architect Charles Marshall expect finishers unless problems arise. The added space will house business education classes and central administration offices with interior work to follow after January 1, 1965. First classes are planned September 21 and an open house will be part of parent visitation night with date announced later.

Area Residents Vote Today On School Change

Douglas County and 38 Kansas counties held a second round of elections to unify districts into a single unit. Lawrence residents voted as a unit while other areas voted separately, with final passage needing approval from both areas and the state Department of Public Instruction. The plan follows June results and aims to reduce Kansas 106 unification units to a streamlined system.
