EPA lawn mower rules push prices up 18 percent
The EPA announced emissions cuts of 35 percent for gas powered lawn and garden equipment under 25 horsepower starting 2011, with 70 percent cuts for gas boats a year earlier. Analysts expect consumers to bear most costs, with mowers rising about 18 percent in three years. Some retailers will keep selling older models while others see demand persisting for lawn care services.
