Kansas guardsmen return home from seven months in Europe
About 75 Kansas Army National Guardsmen gathered for lunch at the Lawrence armory to mark the return of E and B companies from nearly seven months of duty in Europe. Families faced travel constraints, while soldiers recounted experiences, including learning German and supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Dalton Harvey, born during deployment, was among 13 babies born to the 400-strong units. Most guardsmen resume civilian jobs Monday.
