West Virginia flags issues with miners air packs
West Virginia warned its underground coal operations Thursday about possible failures in emergency air packs after decay was discovered in SR100 packs carried by state mine inspectors during random testing. Nine packs were not equipped.

Heat Indicator Rule Prompted Air Pack Removals at Mines
The state Office of Miners Health Safety and Training urges immediate removal of any air packs without heat indicators. As of August 21, 63 such packs remained in use by mine inspectors.
