Why KU schedules I-AA Western Carolina for noncounting game

Kansas faced bylaw 30.9.2 requiring six Division I-A wins for bowl eligibility, so Western Carolina’s visit yields a counted home game without counting toward a bowl bid. The setup lets KU fill home dates while 60 percent I-A play remains required to qualify for bowls despite one noncounting nonconference game.
