Letter renews pain as sailors stranded and feared dead
A message from Lt. Capt. Kolesnikov to his wife, written on two sides of a paper, expresses grief after word the submarine was flooded after Aug 21 rescue attempts. His brother Alexander, also a submariner, sent a private line of emotion as officials grapple with the failed rescue and ongoing aggrieved national mood. Motsak, Northern Fleet chief of staff, added briefing details for reporters.
