Bottle of skunk oil shattered the north plate glass, police arrived at 2:35 a.m. Picketing by Ottawa Wholesale drivers occurred Aug. 16, tied to Teamsters of Topeka. The prior attack caused heavy damage and a shop closure from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2. Cleanup began immediately, with expected minimal lost business hours.

Catfish Stocking Boosts Lone Star Lake Yields
About 4000 channel catfish ranging from nine to 11 inches were released into Lone Star Lake, 12 miles southwest of Lawrence. The fish come from Pratt’s state fishery, with Douglas County maintaining the rearing pond and providing feed. Kansas Forestry Fish and Game staff noted strong fingerling survival and excellent current catfish yields, under guidance from Dr. Frank Cross of KU and overseen by state game protector George Schlecy.

Coyotes sighted in quiet West Sixth Street area
A full grown coyote sighting near West Sixth Street by Ohio and Tennessee is described as a regular visit by Mrs. Harold Wulfkuhle. reports say the animal appeared about 5 30 a m Saturday and Monday with her son also seeing it and a group of locals noticing it Sunday morning. Meanwhile KU students and Red Cross aided Michael O Neill in a blood drive at Templin Hall collecting 90 pints from 115 volunteers. O Neill 19 of Templin Hall was injured October 16 in a traffic crash near Lawrence and remained in KU Medical Center in Kansas City listed as fair and awaiting surgery, while Peter M Nelson 19 of Leavenworth Washburn University was listed in poor condition and being transferred to another hospital.
