Lawrence High Debaters Close to Quarterfinals at Hutchinson
Two LHS teams competed in Hutchinson tournaments. Jim Collinson of 1926 Maine and Tim Gilles of 1301 Iowa, both seniors, won five and lost one. They missed quarterfinals by one speaker point. Seven Persons Hurt in Wrecks on Lawrence Streets
Seven people were injured in three Sunday traffic accidents on Lawrence streets. None serious. A two car crash on Kentucky Street at Eleventh injured Clark Bricker Anna Bricker and Bruce Bricker. Bruce treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Oliver Phillips Jr. not injured. Vehicle damage about 4450 dollars. A noon collision at 19th and Iowa Street injured Terrance Unfred Howard Quinlan and two passengers Richard Brown and Mitchell Barnes. Damages around 1050 dollars. A crash at 8th and Mass Street injured John Davenport with whiplash. Police noted several other non injury mishaps during the weekend.
