German textile firms post record wartime profits
Berlin reports that German textile companies earned much larger profits than before the war. A Bremen concern doubled profits from 4,409,090 marks to 16,000,000 including shares, with a 62 percent dividend. A cotton goods producer rose from 2,009,000 to 9,700,000 marks. Other firms show dividends of 16 to over 40 percent. Profits surged due to winter market prices, while raw cotton costs climbed, inflating margins.
