A late night incident in Cork saw the lord mayor suffer a fatal outcome with authorities confirming the event occurred at around 5 40 this morning. Local officials and emergency crews responded to the scene, but no further details were released pending investigations.
A brother and the widow with sisters reached Brixton Prison at 9 30 oclock. A hanger strike and the Lord Mayor were reported unconscious for 36 hours before the death.
Terence MacSwiney lord mayor of Cork died at Brixton prison after a hunger strike exceeding seventy three days. He had been unconscious for days and received extreme unction as his condition worsened. His death follows a long political career with Sinn Fein and multiple imprisonments.
Cork Ireland Oct 25 The death of hunger striker Joseph Murphy is expected momentarily as prayers are said by the jail chaplain. Murphy's mother two sisters and a brother are at his bedside awaiting the death.

Leon Bourgeois, president of the council of the League of Nations, tells American reporters that article ten is not vital and could be eliminated without weakening the covenant. He says Europeans view it as a moral background with no penalties, and that sanctions lie in other articles. Bourgeois notes amendments may be proposed by individual states but the council cannot alter the covenant before the assembly in Geneva.
Washington reports M. T. Sevirey an American killed in Cananea Mexico last Wednesday. The secretary of state instructed the local authorities to pursue the murderer. Navarre, a miner discharged by Cananea Copper, is blamed per press dispatches. A reward is posted by the Canadian Government and Mexican troops hunt Navarre. Sevrey lived in Bisbee Arizona.
Ballots mailed from the county clerk's office tomorrow morning to qualified voters in active service for direct return. The notice notes ballots are sent directly to voters and must be mailed back to the county clerk after marking.
At a Hutchinson board gathering of University Alumni directors, Chancellor Lindley faced a playful challenge about the Kansas language. He quipped that pumpkin pie equals punkin pie in Kansas usage, and he explained his aim to blend regional speech with curriculum plans for the university.

The annual Valley of Lawrence Kansas Masonic reunion opened in full swing with degrees planned through the night and into Thursday. Members from many towns and University of Kansas area joined a program including the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th degrees. Festivities will conclude with a grand banquet for Scottish Rite Masons and families at the Masonic Temple.
The notice lists a 4 p.m. meeting of the Council of Kodash with Harold L Butler as a selected figure. It also mentions 4:50 p.m. and 7 p.m. lectures for the 19th and 20th degrees, followed by supper.

The Ramage Sale is at 924 Massachusetts Street Fearns Metcalf office with deliveries Thursday or Friday. The Food Sale is at 1005 Massachusetts Street Dodge rooms and will be held Saturday.
A morning meeting at the Merchants National Bank discussed preliminaries for a two million dollar stadium and student union fund at the University of Kansas. A follow up dinner was planned for November 1 to present the proposal and align it with Chancellor Lind’s campaign.
