Car Hits Calf on Haskell Avenue Extension
Gary L. Burton aged 23 of Baldwin drove south on Haskell Avenue extension at 1 15 a m and struck and killed a 300 pound black calf two and one quarter miles south of Lawrence city limits. He said a dark object appeared at the road edge and a cow crossed the road prompting a swerve and the last calf was struck. The cattle are owned by Mabel Peters and the damage to the car was about 275 dollars.
