City plans may extend debt and continue projects
Corliss said purchases could push past ten years with more general obligation debt, aided by a reserve in the bond and interest fund. End of 2011 saw an $8.49 million balance. 2012 budgeted $13.8 million in new debt for Farmland site improvements and a recreation complex, without raising taxes. The Sales Tax Audit Committee oversees spending per ballot language, which requires infra projects but no fixed amounts. Also, Baldwin City agreed to a 40 year water treatment contract with lower wholesale rates, while a bid to add a mid block crosswalk on New Hampshire Street failed 4-1 due to parking loss concerns.
