A surprise snowstorm covered the ground with about two inches as a cold front replaced Saturday’s mild weather. Trees and limbs blocked streets, utilities faltered, and communication lines were disrupted. The event marked one of the heaviest snows in years, with tabs on wheat and rye affected by the sudden change.
A store advertises cloaks ranging from $1.00 to $15.00 with new goods. Featured items include fur trimmed plush capes at 45.98, children jackets at 1.25, long school cloaks and a new style round corner jacket in black and green, special price 4.98, plus wool dress pattern sale with pattern 3 48 and 433.
A. J. Grifin now operates from Riverside Coal company office and yard to handle large and growing coal business. He offers clean Riverside and Leavenworth coal with other soft grades, with orders handled promptly via offices, phone, or coal haulers. Gas stoves sold for two dollars.
The second annual Betty Washington Chapter D A K meeting at Unity church drew a large crowd despite dust and wind. Officers elected include regent Mrs. Mary Bob Muskell and vice regent Edna B. Fuller with Miss Mary L. Robinson secretary. Robinson gifted Lives of the Pilgrims upon resigning regency. The National Society plans a children of the American Revolution branch in the state, with Miss Robinson as president. Mr J A Spaulding, formerly a traveling salesman for a grocery house, today assumed ownership of the Olson grocery at the corner of Vermont and Henry street. He quit the road due to health and aims to succeed in a business familiar from his long experience.
The crowded courtroom heard further tests on the malted milk bottle and stomach contents. Dr Bartow testified arsenic was detected in matting, towels, and a sheet, with Marsh and other tests confirming arsenic presence. Dr Morse described Mrs Kunkel’s illness and miscarriage progression from August 29 through September, noting gastric irritation and pregnancy factors amid ongoing treatment.
Testimony details Mrs. Kunkel’s illness with vomiting and swelling, and arsenic suspicion from eyelid puffiness and embalming fluids.
