Harvard Teacher Will Give First Humanities Talk
Harvard archaeologist Dr Sterling Dow of Harvard University will deliver the opening Humanities Lecture at Kansas University 8 p m Tuesday in Fraser Theater. The talk titled The Alphabet and the Organization of Knowledge discusses how humans have organized and cataloged knowledge across centuries. Dow, a former Guggenheim Foundation adviser, will also present St Paul in Athens to Westminster Fellowship Sunday. He spent five years in Greece on inscriptions and excavations and will discuss historical research methods and the Ship the Voyage and the Shipwreck of St Paul at an open meeting Monday in the Memorial Union Pine Room.

Two Brothers Killed Struck By Auto Near Shinglehouse
In western Pennsylvania near the New York border two brothers Donald Max son eight and Michael six from Ceres New York were fatally injured when struck by a car as they attempted to catch a school bus. They died in an Olean New York hospital within five hours. The driver was identified as Mrs Edna C Rupert of Shinglehouse by state police. Coroner William E MacDuffie ruled accidental death.

In Seattle Democratic nominee Adlai Stevenson announced the formation of a National Business Council of prominent leaders in business and finance to support his push for the presidency. Crop Prospects In September Increase
The Agriculture Department’s October crop report shows a 1 percent rise in production prospects for this year, with progress and harvest generally good despite drought in the Great Plains. Gains occurred in soybeans flaxseed fall potatoes dry beans peanuts cotton hay corn tobacco sorghum grain spring wheat and sugar beets, while rice sugar cane and hops edged down. The corn crop is about 3,300,000 bushels, the second largest on record, up 1 percent from last month.
