United Nations scene shifts as Soviet and Western interests converge on the Suez dispute. Moscow seeks a canal settlement while backing Egyptian nationalism, hoping to keep American and British policies from widening Arab-Western conflict.
Riverside report says three Air Force airmen died when a Big bomber from the 2nd Bomb Squadron of the 22nd Bomb Wing failed after takeoff, slammed back and exploded in a potato field. Names withheld until relatives are notified. Chicago note reports a wife arrested for kidnapping a one month old baby, Ronald Joseph Bucher, snatched from a crib, later found unharmed with Gladys Bynum.
A Chicago woman with a brown-haired wife described as desperate for a baby admitted taking Ronald Joseph Bucher, month old, last night. Police found the unharmed infant with Gladys Bynum in a basement apartment, leading to a confrontation with the child’s mother Lois Bucher. A large police search followed, aided by house to house canvassing and a tip from neighbors.
President Eisenhower said a constitutional amendment banning a third term may not be wise though he did not speak for himself. He urged the people should decide who leads, warned against power concentration, and defended his view of campaigning and voter truth. He noted civil rights battles in the armed forces and addressed Stevenson and Nixon remarks.
Dist. Judge Otis T. Dunagan said the decision to go ahead had been made in a crucial Texas hearing threatening the NAACP. He told reporters the issues were for the bench and attorneys only, but all agreed to proceed with the hearing.

Adlai Stevenson watched from the stands as seven Yankees pitchers worked. The Subway Series moves to Yankee Stadium for Game Three with Clem Labine or Carl Erskine versus Bob Grim or Whitey Ford.
A sharp temperature swing marked the day with morning frost in the Kaw Valley near Topeka and Lawrence dropping to 42 after a 83 high, then surging 42 degrees by noon to reach 86 by afternoon. Forecasters expect fairy warm weather for the Kansas Colorado football game with morning in the 50s and afternoon near 90.

City officials note cost at about 22 500 dollars with city contribution and assessments. Early bond funding began in 1950 and land costs rose as the city expanded blocks to serve the parking network.
