Iowa State defeats Kansas 21 to 7 in Ames as the Cyclones score twice in the first period and add a final TD after a KU interception. Dave Shirk nets Kansas' lone TD in the third. Kansas threatened late but could not overcome the early ISU onslaught.
Kansas builds early lead then holds Iowa State in a high tempo confrontation. Kischer, Neal, Hapgood and Hapgood key plays for Kansas while Poole, Shirk and Neal spark Iowa State drives. Final score Kansas 7 Iowa State 21 after a back and forth second half struggle.
In Manhattan Missouri and Kansas State battled to a 7 7 draw before 8 000 fans as Muhley ran 30 yards for Missouri and Elder scored for Kansas State after Cleveland set up the play. Topeka Oct 10 The Kansas supreme court struck at alienation and breach of promise suits by ruling against Mrs Earl Roberts who sought 75000 damages from Mrs Martha Dockstader for loss of her husband's love The court said such suits are obnoxious to public welfare and dismissed the claim noting Kansas still allows a related law and that acts must be intentional to alienate affections

Norman Thomas, presidential hopeful on the Socialist ticket, is slated to speak Wednesday afternoon October 14 at 3 oclock in the Unitarian church. The event is sponsored by the Thomas for President club at K U with John Piercey as president. If weather permits the meeting may move across the street to South Park to accommodate a larger audience.

The Liberty Memorial high school band plans a day trip to Kansas City Missouri on Monday October 1. They depart Lawrence at 7:30 AM and perform at Central high school in Kansas City Mo and at the American Royal livestock show. After lunch they tour Minnesota avenue, parade, then perform a short concert at the American Royal building before returning to Lawrence at 6 PM.

Delays from manufacturers slowed curb and gutter work on Massachusetts street, now advanced from Sixth to Eleventh streets. Conduit installed, sidewalks replaced, labor limited to three days per week per worker. After cable arrives, sidewalk projects resume with WPA funds and local material deposits.
In Topeka the supreme court ruled second class cities may levy an occupational tax and license on dentists practicing within their limits. The decision upholds Independence city efforts and reverses Montgomery county district court. The tax amount cited was 22.
Prof. W. T. Garrett plans departure from Milwaukee last Friday to Yerkes Observatory Williams Bay Wis Ife and Mia. He and Helen completed a four thousand mile northeast United States and Quebec journey while Landon spoke in a lighthouse on the St. Lawrence river 200 miles northeast of Quebec with 60 degree weather.
Wayne County Republican headquarters announced Governor ASP M. Landon Republican presidential nominee would visit Henry Ford in Detroit Tuesday. Landon will visit Ford's Dearborn home in the early afternoon with arrangements by Kansas governor representatives. The Rev.
