County clerk urges cleanup of law on local election dates
Douglas County Clerk Jamie Shew told an interim committee that small details cause big headaches in the law shifting local elections from spring to fall of odd-numbered years. He cited drainage and irrigation districts where voting depends on property ownership and noted concerns for cities like Tonganoxie about spring 2016 elections and term expirations. Sen Mitch Holmes plans more discussions in January.
