Kansas Bureau of Investigation figures show Douglas County first half 1992 crime down 19.3 percent from 1991. Burglaries and thefts declined from 1,210 and 1,637 to 881 and 1,336 respectively. Violent crimes rose countywide 18.5 percent.

Clinton not visiting Lawrence ahead of debate trip

Property tax estimates adjust as valuations rise in county and city
Douglas County budget director Darlene Hill reports County property values rose to 374,876,043 and City valuation to 271,615,019 as of August. Levy cuts drop county rates from 29.934 to 29.925 mills and city rates from 28.17 to 28.161 mills. Ministerial alliance declines liquor by the drink clash
