Deadline set in Wichita death by own action bomb plot
US District Judge Monti Belot ordered deadlines for motions in the terrorism case of Terry Loewen, an avionics technician jailed since December for allegedly plotting a death by own action bombing at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport. The judge did not set a trial date, citing speed in moving the case. Loewen, who worked at Hawker Beechcraft Services, faces counts of attempting to be a weapon of mass destruction and related charges. His defense claims FBI entrapment and argues absence of co-conspirators or al Qaida ties. The proceedings also included a hidden Classified Information Procedures Act session.
