Eisenhower memorial wins key design approval
The National Capital Planning Commission approved preliminary plans for the Dwight D. Eisenhower memorial near the National Mall amid objections to Frank Gehry’s design. The panel voted 10-1 after Gehry trimmed features like two steel towers, retaining a single backdrop showing Kansas landscapes. The $142 million project still faces further design clearances before construction can begin.
