Mob kills Black man in St Joseph lynching
In St Joseph Missouri a mob of about seven thousand seized Lloyd Warner a 19 year old Black man accused of assault. He was dragged from a jail cell to an elm tree near the courthouse and set afire as a crowd watched. Police and National Guard tried to intervene amid tear gas and clashes. Authorities investigated with Governor Park denouncing the mob and stressing no justification for the fatal lynching.
