A million dollar addition to the Kansas Union at Kansas University aims for year end completion increasing usable space to 206000 square feet and capacity for about 2400 more events annually. The three story addition houses the Alumni Association offices the Governors Room and the Mount Oread Book Shop with several rooms nearing completion and a 224 foot tunnel linking to the University Parking Zone X. Delays included bad weather material shortages and a 51 day sheet metal workers union strike.

He claimed another car forced his swerve and police arrested him for leaving the scene and unsafe speed. Pole damage about 500 dollars and car 850. Explosion damages furnace at apartment house in Lawrence
Firemen report a gas explosion blew the furnace door off at 1140 La. at 3 22 p m Wednesday causing no fire and no damage estimate. A small fire occurred earlier at 1 44 p m Wednesday at James Radiator Shop 300 Locust when a vat heated by a cooling tool ignited.
