Two Die After Missouri Car Truck Crash

Lime use limited by half in 1948 ACA program
Douglas County will face a sharp cut in liming activity as the 1948 federal funds for the Agricultural Conservation association are reduced by 50 percent. County ACA chair George Butell said total lime spread may be capped at about 15 000 tons, with farmers paying 40 percent of costs. Last year 27 000 tons were contracted and 600 farmers signed up. 1947 federal expenditures were about 48 000 dollars, now expected to fall under 25 000. Applications for 1948 are urged after January 1. Eight bids were received for 1948 lime supply, with five last year. The successful bidders include Kaser Construction Co Globe Loring Quarries Bonner Springs and Homer Clark Baldwin.
