Waupun Wisconsin November 25 A 15 hour siege by 69 state prison convicts ended at daybreak after Warden John C Burke called for order. Prison guards were held during the mutiny but released unharmed and the convicts surrendered within ten minutes of the ultimatum.
Lawrence prepares for a virtually complete shutdown for the Thankegivine holiday with almost all retail businesses closed. Only drug stores will keep Sunday hours. federal state county and city offices halt. post office processes outgoing mail but mail windows stay closed and regular deliveries stop.

The London conference of the foreign ministers from the United States, Soviet Union, Britain, and France adopted a six item peace agenda for Germany and Austria. Douglas county drainage district warned the Kaw river could slice into homes and land west of the Union Pacific underpass. A 1.4 to 2.0 million project of rip rap and jetties was proposed as a joint effort by the city, state highway department, Union Pacific, and the drainage district to stabilize 1500 feet of bank and protect the North Lawrence levee system.
First Sergeant John P. Jojola of Lawrence, a Kansas guard recruiter, leaves by rail for a five day trip to Washington and Philadelphia for the Army-Navy game. He will tour the capital, visit the White House, and dine with Secretary Royall and General Eisenhower at the Pentagon. He predicts Army will win and returns to Lawrence next Monday.

The Kansas and Colorado legislatures in 1949 will be asked to approve water division agreements to be concluded in 1948 by the Arkansas River compact commission. The commission announced this at the end of a two day meeting with members from both states.

New York November 25 UP More than 20 leading motion picture executives and producers announced they would discharge or suspend without compensation those in their employ until they are acquitted or purge themselves of contempt and declare under oath they were not communists. A meeting was called by Eric Johnston president of the Motion Picture Association of America following congressional hearings in Washington on un American activities. Horace employees were of for contempt as a result of the hearings.
Pittsburg Kansas November 25 Arthur Kinsch 19 of Parsons admitted under questioning that he was the driver of the car which went into a ditch near McCune late Sunday night, causing the death of Cessna also of Parsons, county attorney Barnes Griffith said after questioning the youth. City council unanamously passed three annexation ordinances to include West Hills University Heights Strongs University Place annex and Fairfax in the new Lawrence city limits. Several unplatted blocks near Delta Chi property and along Nineteen Street were designated for future annexation, with drafting instructions given for additional strips. A building-restriction proposal limiting new developments to U-1 residence use was also discussed pending planning study.
