In Bangkok the interior ministry and police ruled the death of U.S. Ambassador John E. Peurifoy and his 9 year old son Daniel an accident. The 48 year old envoy and Daniel were killed when a sports car collided head on with a truck on a bridge 123 miles south of Bangkok on August 12. An other son was injured. The ambassador’s car was said to have been traveling over 60 miles per hour while the truck was on its side of the road.
CHICAGO The National Safety Council does not expect traffic deaths on Thanksgiving Day to total much more than an average non-holiday day. The council urged motorists to make today an extra safe day on the nation's highways. It did not issue a toll estimate as experience shows Thanksgiving does not usually produce large crowds of motor traffic.

Bill Bowman a 45 year old hotel employee related a strange incident as a deer wrestled him and a hunter to a standstill. Bowman had left his gun nearby and when the deer came near he grabbed the animal by the neck and held on until hunting partner Phil Weyrick arrived and cut the deer's throat.
