Second Hunter Arrested After Landowner Land Dispute
Willard Johnson Lathrom 31 of 1334 Ohio St was charged Tuesday with unlawful hunting and freed on 100 bond pending county court trial. His brother Lestie Lathrom 525 N 4th St faces unlawful hunting and assault and battery charges with 500 bond pending a preliminary hearing. Brecheisen reported the Saturday dispute occurred on his farm near the Johnach County line in Southeast Douglas County.

Local veteran gravely ill at Wadsworth Hospital
Elbert Robinson of 127 East 19th Street remains critically ill at Wadsworth Veterans Hospital with a heart ailment. A rural mail carrier on Route 4 and World War I veteran was taken to the hospital last Wednesday, family members reported today.

Jury doubles court appraisal in Pike Turnpike case
In Douglas County Kansas a district court jury more than doubled the original appraisers award in the first Pike Turnpike condemnation appeal. The Wulfkuhles home at Lecompton sought damages and for 41 percent acres taken. The jury set the acres value at 5600 and added 620 for lowered land value due to the road splitting the field.
