New York officials announced a major reduction in freight charges totaling over a billion dollars since 1921, with the six rate reductions saving about 80 million last year. In Paris on November 19 a Spanish author Vicente Ibanez published in France England and the United States a 100 page manifesto accusing King Alfonso of being personally responsible for Spain’s Morocco disaster of 1921 led by General Silvestre. He claims Alfonso betrayed France by sharing war secrets with Germany and that a German agent relayed details to Berlin after a French attache’s remarks. The book is titled AL fonze unmasked.
Rev Heatsley of Christ Lutheran in Bexley, Ohio, testified that he now believes his wife killed herself after earlier denying a self inflicted death. He telephoned prosecutor John R. King for a personal conference hours before his wife’s funeral. The minister said his conviction formed after weighing all angles.
The report notes John J Lew, president of the United Mine Workers of America, is not a candidate for labor secretary in President Coolidge's cabinet. A federation resolution endorsing him was discussed at the American Federation of Labor convention in Muskogee Oklahoma.
Beck Glasscock, leader of the Rondout train robbery gang, testified in the trial of ex post office inspector William Fahy and others. Independence Calif November 19 Associated Press Jeff Hes sian district attorney of Inyo county announced he was leaving for Sacramento to urge Governor Richardson to send state troops to the Alabama gates of the Los Angeles aqueduct where ranchers are wasting the city water supply. Sheriff Charles Collins said he sent a telegram to Attorney General Webb urging attendance at the conference between the governor and Hes sian. Colling said he already had asked the governor three times to order the state troops.
George Jones of Valentine Texas won the American royal feeder cattle championship with Highland Herefords. Dan Casement of Manhattan Kansas placed second in his class. T. J. Grace of Wichita Kan won first in the Hereford twenty head feeder group. W H Pipkin of Elwood Missouri took best load Berkshire swine under 250 pounds. Kansas State College claimed fat sheep honors. Albert Hultine and Sons of Sarontville Neb won Polled Hereborns. King Brothers Co of Laramie Wyo won ram Bouillet bred championship.
Prof P P O'Brien will speak at 7 30 tonight at Stull Evangelical Church in observance of National Education Week. Douglas County district schools present a program with music by Stull quartet pupil reading from Eudora spades Big Springs and Lecompton rural high girls’ glee clubs. Roy Knapp, Lecompton rural high principal, introduces the program.

The event closed with the Amen Chorus from the Messiah. Acquitted of murder charges McAllester, ex sprint champion, cleared in New York. World fliers depart Scott Field for Dayton on final US leg.
A Gulfport Mississippi central forward school building was destroyed by fire causing an estimated loss of 75,000 dollars. About 345 children attending classes were moved to safety, though several windows and entries helped prevent greater tragedy.
University of Wisconsin plans an annual Fine Arts Day with an all university convocation at 10 o clock in Robinson Gymnasium. Joseph Jastrow will speak on impulse and expression. Exhibits in the administration building third floor and a public recital in Praser chapel follow, with a Fine Arts dance Friday evening at the gymnasium.
Short filed a motion for judgment of acquittal and a motion for a new trial in district court on charges of violating state laws. The attorney contends the court overruled the motion to dismiss the information and the defense demurrer after the state's case. Short faces no charge of a capital penalty in Kansas, and he was detained last Saturday.
Washington reports the Senate special committee plan daily hearings on the estate tax and related subjects. They will prepare a partial report for the short session while examining corporate and individual tax payments and possible evasion.
A Lawrence delegation of business people students and farmers began a two day dairy farm inspection tour to Fort Scott and Iola. About seventy five travelers joined at the Chamber of Commerce and planned visits to Pleasanton Bronson Iola and Allen counties with meals provided by local chambers. The group will inspect dairy operations and return to Lawrence tomorrow with a bell signal to mark towns along the route.
County officers and deputies will travel to Topeka today or tomorrow to join sessions held by county officers associations. E C Bussing B Huddleston G E Kretsinger Mrs J D McNeill Miss Hettie Vaughn and Mrs Isa FE Wellmen attended today while Judge Menger plans to go tomorrow. The university men's glee club will perform tonight followed by a dance in the Hotel Kansan ballroom with all state county officers invited.
