Family begins Habitat home on Comfort Lane in North Lawrence

Xueying Wang waited years to drive the ceremonial nail for her new Habitat for Humanity home in North Lawrence. The 81st partner family, Wang, her son Jake, 20, daughter Serenity, 6, and her mother will move in after about 12 weeks if the build stays on schedule. Wang moved from Beijing in 2003, became a citizen last year, and studied surgical technology while her son attends Johnson County Community College. Habitat volunteers joined her Saturday as walls went up on the 200 block of Comfort Lane, all homes in the development. Wang says the new home will make her family feel stable and grateful for the chance Habitat provided.
