City to challenge Census numbers in Lawrence

Lawrence officials move to dispute 2010 census counts and argue an undercount of about 2,400 residents. City commissioners may draft a letter asking the Census Bureau to review city staff findings that suggest Lawrence housed about 90,000 people in 2010, not 87,643. The action could end years of dispute between city and census authorities. Amy Miller, planning lead, said the process should reveal a clearer population total.
