Haskell appoints Gaye King to lead new four year education degree
Gaye Leia King becomes the first director of Haskell Indian Junior College's Teacher Education Program. Starting next fall the college will offer a four year Bachelor of Education focused on training teachers for kindergarten through eighth grade with emphasis on returning graduates to their communities. King plans a national board, selective admissions, and outreach to Native American students while she completes program implementation. She previously worked as an education evaluation specialist for the BIA Office of Indian Education Programs in Washington.
