KU faculty and students seek voice in university restructuring

911 Lines Down for Douglas County Three Hours

Southwestern Bell error cut the county emergency lines for more than three hours Thursday starting about 1 30 pm. Lines restored at 4 54 pm after technicians fixed the outage. Officials noted miscommunication about a switch to enhanced 911, with authorities urging use of local police and sheriff numbers. The disruption drew apologies from the company as law enforcement reported no major problems.

Marines to Honor KU Senior at Pregame Ceremony

Kansas University and a senior Amber Lucian of Columbus will receive the Commandant's Trophy in a Saturday ceremony before the football game against Colorado. Lucian earned top female candidate at Officers Candidate School in Quantico while the university is recognized for leadership and academics in preparing future Marine officers. Brig. Gen. David A. Informer and sheriff meet over complaints in Duty death case

Former Lawrence police officer Ted Crady met with Douglas County Sheriff Loren Anderson to discuss treatment by investigators into Charles Duty’s death near the county line. Crady had urged an apology and said Anderson apologized. authorities have not discussed the meeting.

Lawrence library book sale nets over thirty one thousand dollars

The Friends of the Lawrence Public Library report a final profit exceeding $31,000 from the 20th annual sale held in October. Donated items filled the tent on library grounds, with a silent auction adding nearly $600. Proceeds fund new books and equipment. Spending decisions occur in late December and early 1993.

Preservation contest showcases built environment photos
