Computer Firm Will Open Here In Lawrence

A new branch for Computer Services Corporation will be opened Thursday at 9 30 in the Gill Building at Ninth and Tennessee. Harris Ballow of Dallas will attend with Roy R. Erwin and Jerry L. Gilstrap guiding Lawrence operations. The eight month old firm serves college students with cards for job placement catalogs travel and other services. Erwin expects seven Lawrence employees and connectivity to Dallas with plans for ten Kansas centers.

Trash fire causes $200 damage in Lawrence truck

An estimated $200 damage occurred around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday when trash caught fire in a truck owned by M and K Investment Co. Lawrence, according to the Lawrence fire department. The blaze was reported near West 23rd Street and the Drag Strip Road, at the west city limits.

Government set to okay DDT use cut in two years

Washington AP Secretary of Welfare Robert H. Finch plans to accept a recommendation to end DDT use within two years. Undersecretary John Veneman said Hardin and Hickel are receptive. The plan envisions administrative steps, with exceptions for malaria control in remote areas, and cites California, Arizona and Michigan already limiting use.
